Club Goals
In any organization, large or small, there are laways goals. It gives us the drive we need to move forward and improve our lives. The growth of the Cruiser Club (and Chapter 00 in particular) has been exciting and rewarding. And, since we have grown to the wonders of the world wide web, there has been more interest than ever in the Cruiser Club from different regions around the country and from around the world.
Our goal as the Cruiser Club is to establish chapters in as many towns and cities as we can so that everyone who enjoys motorcycling can enjoy the benefits of club membership. We all share the same passiona and when we ride together, help each other customize or fix bikes, or just sit around to have a few laughs, it only enhances the enjoyment of motorcycling. Our goal is to probide everyone, regardless of race, gender, ethnic origin, or religion that experience. We welcome anyone who enjoys that art of motorcycling to join us in our quest for growth of our organization and motorcycling in general.
History of the Cruiser Club
Cruiser Club, U. S. A. (formerly Shadow Club, U. S. A.) was formed in 1988 in Fort Wayne, IN. In 1988 Chuck Cottrell and two friends were heading south to Tennessee. A thought crossed Chuck's mind while following his buddies: "Man, it would be great if we had a large group of cruiser owners riding with us to wherever our bikes lead us." The thought became a reality and now there are Cruiser Club chapters in several states and in Canada. And the club is still growing!
In the summer of 1994 the original Shadow Club made its debut at the Honda Homecoming in Marysvill, OH. Everyone had a wonderful time and was overwhelmed by the number of bikes and people who were there to see the cruisers rumbling by and parking everywhere. We then realized that the reality of going national was developing right before our eyes, and we knew that there was no turning back. Everyone involved in the Shadow Club had to get busy to get ready for the growth that would surely come. At first, the club was limited to owners of Honda Shadows, but that was to change eventually.
As the years past, other manufacturers came out with some excellent cruisers. Members began buying Kawasakis, Yamahas, and just about every other bike on the market. It became obvious that a change was brewing. With existing members buying a wide range of bikes and new members feeling left out if they did not have a Shadow, the decision was made to change the name of the club to its present name: Cruiser Club, U.S.A. The club was now open to any make of cruiser-style motorcycle. Recently, members have been joining who own touring bikes and even sport bikes. What we all share in common is the love of cruising down the road on our machines. It doesn't matter what you ride, as long as you love the feel the wind in your face and the feeling of freedom that comes with motorcycling.
Now we are heading into the new millennium with a new name and outlook. We are now nearly 30 chapters strong with over 400 members. We have a national rally each year for club members and anyone else who loves motorcycling. Chapters in various regions of the country sponsor their own regional rallies. And, of course, each chapter has several rides each year, as well as monthly meetings. So, please consider becoming a part of our growing family of motorcycling enthusiasts.
Chuck Cottrell is now the National Director of the Cruiser Club. It is a big title for a job that has many rewards. Can you think of a better way to meet and make freinds who enjoy and share one single interest? Cruiser Club U.S.A. was built around that theme. Those of us who enjoy cruising can get together for regular meetings, rides, and special events. You can see the satisfaction on members' faces when they come to their first meeting or ride. The national organization has been fortunate in having a group of dedicated officers and chapter presidents who have done a good job promoting the club.
From one proud motorcycle owner to another...ride to enjoy and enjoy the ride.
